The easiest way is to message us directly on WhatsApp (+855 96 766 4626) β we usually reply instantly. You can also fill in the enquiry form on our Contact page or email us at kungkeatravelandtours@gmail.com.
Tell us your preferred tour, arrival date, number of guests, and where you're staying in Stung Treng and we'll confirm availability immediately.
For half-day and full-day tours, 1β2 days' notice is usually enough β sometimes even same-day if you message us early in the morning. For the 3-night Ultimate Nature & Food Tour, we recommend booking at least 3β5 days ahead so we can arrange accommodation and all the logistics.
During peak season (November to February) we do get busy, so the earlier you contact us the better.
For half-day and full-day tours, no deposit is required. We confirm your booking by message and you pay a day before the tour starts.
For the 3-night tour, we ask for a 20% deposit to cover accommodation pre-booking. You'll pay the rest when you arrive in Stung Treng.
We accept cash in US Dollars or Cambodian Riel a day before your tour. USD is widely used throughout Cambodia. We can also accept payment via ABA bank transfer if arranged in advance β just ask us when you book.
We understand that travel plans change. For day tours, please let us know at least 24 hours before your tour start time and we'll happily reschedule or cancel with no charge.
For the 3-night tour, cancellations with less than 48 hours notice may incur a fee of 20% of your deposit to cover accommodation that has already been booked. We'll always try to find a fair solution.
If you only have half a day, the Mekong Boat Cruise Through Flooded Forests is the best introduction β it's the most unique experience in Stung Treng and something you genuinely won't find anywhere else in Cambodia.
If you have a full day, the Waterfalls & Mekong Boat Cruises tour gives you the complete picture β river, jungle, and a swim beneath the falls. Most guests say it was their favourite day in Cambodia.
We keep our groups small β typically between 2 and 8 guests. If you'd prefer a fully private tour with just your group, let us know when you book and we'll arrange that at no extra cost for groups of 2 or more.
Half-day tours depart at 7:00 AM or 8:00 AM β early morning gives the best light on the river and avoids the midday heat. Full-day tours also start at 7:00β8:00 AM and return by late afternoon. We'll confirm the exact time when you book based on your schedule.
Yes β all of our tours can be adjusted. If you want to spend more time at the waterfalls, skip a section, add a village visit, or combine elements from different tours, just tell us. We're a small local team and flexible by nature. Custom itineraries are our specialty.
Yes. The boat tours are calm and suitable for children of all ages β the Mekong's flooded forests are particularly magical for kids. Life jackets are provided and mandatory on the boat. The kayaking tour is best for children aged 8 and above who are comfortable on the water.
If you're travelling with very young children, message us and we'll suggest the best option for your family.
No experience is needed at all. The river channels we paddle through are calm, flat water with no current β nothing like open-water or whitewater kayaking. Our guide will give you a quick briefing before you set off and stays with you throughout. If you find it tiring at any point, you can hop on the longtail boat instead.
We recommend bringing:
We provide drinking water throughout. For full-day tours, meals are included so you don't need to bring food.
Light, comfortable clothes that you don't mind getting slightly wet. A long-sleeved shirt provides good protection from both the sun and insects. We provide life jackets on the boat β these are mandatory for all guests regardless of swimming ability.
For the kayaking tour, wear clothes you're happy to get wet in, and bring a dry change of clothes in a bag.
Please avoid bringing single-use plastic bottles β we provide refillable water on all tours. Valuables like laptops or large amounts of cash are best left at your guesthouse. The boats have storage space but they're not safe for electronics in rough weather.
Stung Treng is accessible by bus or minivan from several major Cambodian cities:
If you need help arranging transport to Stung Treng, just ask us β we can point you to the best options.
Yes β Stung Treng is a very safe, quiet provincial town. Crime targeting tourists is extremely rare. The biggest practical consideration is the heat and sun on the river, which is why we recommend sun protection and early morning departures. Our guides are with you throughout every tour.
There are several good guesthouses and small hotels in Stung Treng town, most within easy walking distance of the river. We're happy to recommend places to stay that suit your budget β just ask when you message us. We collect all guests directly from their accommodation so there's no need to arrange your own transport to the meeting point.
November to February is the dry season and the most comfortable time to visit β cooler temperatures, clear skies, and calm river conditions. This is peak season.
June to October is the wet season. The river rises dramatically and the flooded forests become even more extraordinary β the water level can be 8β10 metres higher than the dry season, turning the entire landscape into an otherworldly submerged world. Tours still run in the wet season and many guests prefer it for the dramatic scenery, though some waterfall trails may be inaccessible.
March to May is the hot season β very warm but still a good time to visit. The waterfalls are at their most impressive just after the rains begin in May.
Yes β please let us know your dietary requirements when you book. Traditional Khmer food uses a lot of fresh vegetables, rice, and river fish. Vegetarian meals are easy to arrange. Vegan is also possible with a little notice. If you have severe allergies, please tell us in advance so we can take care of everything.
We provide sealed bottled drinking water on all tours. Please do not drink directly from the river. In Stung Treng town, stick to bottled or filtered water as you would anywhere in Cambodia.
We're a tour company, not medical advisors β please consult your doctor or a travel health clinic before visiting Cambodia. That said, most travellers to Stung Treng take standard precautions: hepatitis A and typhoid vaccinations are commonly recommended for rural Cambodia. Malaria risk in this region is low but some travellers choose prophylactics β your doctor can advise.
Mosquito repellent is strongly recommended, particularly in the flooded forest.
The boat cruise tours involve stepping onto and off a longtail boat from a riverbank, which requires some balance and mobility. The waterfalls tour includes walking on uneven forest trails. If you have specific mobility needs, please message us before booking and we'll be honest about what's feasible and suggest the best options for you.
We're a small local team and we love hearing from travellers. Send us a message β we usually reply instantly.
